Penta Laser
Penta Laser, a Zhejiang laser-equipment group founded in 2007, builds cutting machines and a welding range that runs from SWAN handheld welders to dedicated platforms. Begin with your joint, then ask Penta to quote one exact SWAN variant, such as the HW 800-A, with its full working package.

Who Penta Laser is
Penta Laser describes itself as a maker of laser cutting, laser welding and intelligent manufacturing equipment. Its company history dates the business to 2007. Penta says it runs development, production, sales and service across a group with several bases.
The official FABTECH 2025 on-site directory lists PENTA LASER (ZHEJIANG) CO LTD at booth A6153, together with its website. That entry helps you match the Zhejiang company to the name on a quotation. Because the group has more than one base, ask which legal company will sell the machine, which plant will build it and which team will service it in your country.
Welding and cutting are separate ranges
Penta's website files laser welding apart from its flat-sheet cutting, tube and profile cutting, and automated cutting ranges. Inside the welding range, the SWAN air-cooled handheld welder has its own product page. That page also recommends a different handheld welder that works with water-cooled equipment.
Air-cooled and water-cooled handheld units need different utilities, space and service, so request a separate datasheet for each. Big power numbers on the cutting machines describe cutting. For joining, the figures that count are the ones on the SWAN welder you order. If your project also involves cutting, send that as its own enquiry with its own specification.
SWAN variants and operating conditions
The SWAN page lists three variants: HW 500-A, HW 800-A and HW 1200-A, with rated laser output options of 500, 800 and 1200 W. All three are air cooled and offer continuous or pulse output. Each output belongs to its own variant, so a purchased unit carries one rating. Write the variant and its accessories onto the quotation.
Penta also gives operating temperature and humidity limits, and notes that some specifications depend on the physical build of the machine. Before you plan a workstation, ask for the final machine dimensions, cable length and routing as installed, input supply, working reach and the installation manual for your variant. For a large part, tight access or a welder that will move between stations, request a layout drawing or a practical check on site.

Where Penta positions the SWAN welders
Penta aims the SWAN family at thin-plate welding. Its product page groups uses into metal processing, home furnishings, automotive parts, handicrafts and jewellery, and outdoor or on-site work. Read these groups as a starting point for your own sample.
Turn your use into a test piece. For furniture or an enclosure, describe the visible finish and how the torch reaches the joint. For parts that go into a larger assembly, pass on your customer's dimensional and inspection requirements. For outdoor work, describe the site conditions and power available, and ask Penta whether the variant suits them. If the part holds pressure or falls under automotive or other regulation, your engineering team decides acceptance against that standard.

Handheld package or dedicated platform
Penta's product pages show stand-alone welders as well as application platforms. Decide which of the two you are buying before you ask for a delivery date. A handheld order should list the machine, head, cable, accessories, setup and support.
A dedicated platform calls for more detail: fixture design, motion, shielding, control integration and sample acceptance. Ask Penta which parts of the offer are standard and which are engineered for your project. Agree who commissions the system and who signs off the final sample, and put both names in the contract.
Run a sample on your own joint
Send Penta your own material and joint design and ask for welded samples. For each run, record the SWAN variant, output mode, accessories, joint preparation, fit-up and how the weld was examined. Agree the acceptance criteria with your technical team beforehand, covering appearance, penetration or whatever your part requires.
A photo of a clean seam on a demo part says little about your assembly. Judge the samples made on your own parts. Ask for setup, training and site duties to be written into the proposal, so the full installed cost sits next to the machine price.
Is a SWAN welder right for your work?
Penta suits a buyer who already knows laser joining fits the job and wants to see how a handheld family slots into an existing metal shop. If air cooling is what you need, send a SWAN enquiry for a named variant. A request for any laser welder will bring back offers that are hard to compare.
Another configuration, or another joining process, may serve better. Weigh access, repeat production volumes, allowed distortion, the utilities on site and the inspection records your customers expect. Portability and rated power are two inputs among several. Productivity, training time and the cost of a working station come from the trial and the full quote.
Settle these points on the quotation
Ask Penta for an itemised, dated offer with price, minimum order, delivery time and stock for your variant. It should list accessories, commissioning, training, consumables and spares, warranty terms and the service contact for your country if the welder goes down.
Request the conformity documents for the exact machine, issued for the selling company and your destination. A FABTECH listing tells you the company exhibited. It is a separate matter from approval for your workplace. When you compare Penta with other bidders, give everyone the same scope and the same sample test, and buy once the agreed samples have passed.
Compare the published product scope
Product families serve different tasks. Use the configuration and acceptance questions to request a quotation for the same work.

| Product family | Published scope | Before selecting |
|---|---|---|
| SWAN air-cooled handheld series [2] | HW 500-A, 800-A and 1200-A variants for thin-plate joining, with continuous or pulse output. | Tie the output option, mode, installation conditions and sample acceptance to the one variant you order. |
| Water-cooled handheld welder [2] | A different handheld welder that the SWAN page recommends, used with water-cooled equipment. | Ask for its own datasheet and utility needs, and plan its installation separately from the air-cooled units. |
| Laser cutting and automation range [3] | Flat-sheet cutting, tube and profile cutting and automation categories on Penta's website. | Quote cutting as a separate scope; welding performance comes from the welder's own data. |

Buyer questions
Does one SWAN machine offer 500, 800 and 1200 W?
Penta lists three variants, HW 500-A, HW 800-A and HW 1200-A, each with its own output. Name the variant and its configuration on the quotation. [2]
Does the FABTECH listing certify the machine?
No. The official directory shows Penta Laser Zhejiang exhibited in 2025. Ask for current conformity documents, installation requirements and a weld acceptance test for your machine. [4]
Can I mix specifications from the air-cooled and water-cooled handheld pages?
No. They describe different products. Get the datasheet, installation conditions and accessory list for the one configuration Penta offers you. [2]
What work is the SWAN series meant for?
Penta positions it for thin-plate welding in metal processing, home furnishings, automotive parts, handicrafts and jewellery, and outdoor or on-site jobs. Prove the fit with a sample on your own part. [2]
