Jinfeng Welding and Cutting
Jinfeng, a Ningbo machinery maker, builds cutting machines and welding automation for steel structures, including beam welding lines and box-column welding lines. Before asking for a price, map your fabrication route and mark which cutting, assembly, welding and handling steps the new equipment must cover.

Jinfeng's cutting machines and steel welding lines
Jinfeng's English company page offers standard and customised cutting and welding solutions. The product menu lists cutting machines, beam welding lines and box-column welding lines. Its Chinese site groups the range as processing equipment for steel structures. In short, Jinfeng serves fabricators who build beams, columns and similar members, and part of its range cuts steel while part of it welds.
The national standards service lists Ningbo Jinfeng as one of the drafting organisations for GB/T 46074-2025, Safety of thermal cutting machines. That record shows the company takes part in standards work on cutting equipment. For the welding line you buy, you still need the conformity documents of that line. The company site also mentions awards and gives promotional descriptions. Your own trial on your own sections is the measure of throughput and weld quality.
Map your route from stock to finished member
Draw the path from raw plate or sections to the finished assembly. A typical route runs through cutting, edge preparation, fit-up, tack welding, production welding, straightening and inspection. Mark which steps the new equipment should take over and which stay on machines you already own. Add the largest part size, crane limits and how much floor space you have for buffers between stations.
For a beam or column line, name the section family, the steel grades and how much the component dimensions vary. Ask Jinfeng to show how each part moves from one station to the next and how alignment holds along the way. A list of separate machines can hide interfaces that do not fit together. Ask for the full proposed workflow, with a clear line where Jinfeng's responsibility starts and ends, before you base an investment on a catalogue line name.
Beam lines and box-column lines need different briefs
For a beam line, describe the web and flange layout, where the welds sit and how the member is supported as it moves through the sequence. For a box column, explain the access inside and outside the box, the order in which it is closed and where inspectors need to reach. Send full assembly drawings. A broad label such as structural steel gives the supplier too little to design around.
Ask which welding process and which station Jinfeng proposes for each seam, and how the line copes with variation between components. Check whether assembly fixtures, positioning and straightening after welding are in the scope. One configuration may cover only part of your section range, so ask Jinfeng to state the size limits of the line it offers. Send the same part family and acceptance pack to every bidder so the quotations price the same job. Long seams on beams and columns are often welded with submerged-arc or high-current wire processes. The welding automation category explains where a line's scope usually begins and ends, and the duty-cycle guide shows how to specify current for seams that run for minutes at a time.
Cut quality decides how well parts weld
When cutting is in the scope, specify the cut geometry, edge condition and tolerances that fit-up and welding downstream will need. Say whether parts need marking or bevel preparation, and where in the line that happens. A part that looks fine at a stand-alone cutting demonstration can still jam or gap in an automated assembly fixture.
Ask how drawings and production data travel through the proposed system. Agree who handles nesting, part labelling and drawing revisions, and ask Jinfeng to name the software that does each task. For the cutting machines actually offered, request current safety and conformity documents for the exact models.
Count finished assemblies and changeover time
Set the output target as completed assemblies leaving the agreed scope. The observed period should include loading, transfers, operator tasks, consumable changes and inspection. Ask Jinfeng for a sequence chart that shows the slowest station and where buffers sit. A fast cutting head or a high travel speed on one welder says little about what the whole route delivers per shift.
If you run mixed batches, include realistic section changes in the trial. Log rework, rejected welds, dimensional corrections and handling stops. Your engineering team chooses the inspection methods and keeps responsibility for structural weld qualification. Judge the offered configuration against your own product and production conditions.
Plan the line as a plant project
Ask for a layout drawing with foundations, utilities, lifting routes, operator access and maintenance clearance. Name the party responsible for interlocks, guarding and links to your existing equipment. Discuss the commissioning order, and whether Jinfeng's acceptance stops at each machine or covers the connected workflow.
At handover you should receive manuals, electrical and layout drawings, the accepted settings and backups of the control programs. Agree on spare parts, on-site training and support for the configuration you actually receive.
What to get on paper before ordering
Have Jinfeng put the current capacity, price, delivery date, warranty and certificates for each machine on the quotation. Ask for the section size limits and the welding process for every station in writing. If any component is swapped before shipping, the change should be approved by you first.
Keep a signed acceptance pack with the drawings, trial results and agreed settings. When the line arrives, check the delivered machines and parts against it.
Compare the published product scope
Product families serve different tasks. Use the configuration and acceptance questions to request a quotation for the same work.
On a small screen, scroll sideways to read all three columns.
| Product family | Published scope | Before selecting |
|---|---|---|
| Beam welding lines [1] | A line family in Jinfeng's product menu for welding steel beams. | Give the section family, fit-up method, welding scope and how parts transfer. |
| Box-column welding lines [1] | Listed as a separate family from the beam lines. | Describe closing order, joint access and inspection points. |
| Cutting and profile-processing equipment [1] | Jinfeng offers cutting machines for several applications. | Set the cut quality you need and agree how cutting data feeds the rest of the route. |
Buyer questions
What does Jinfeng make?
Cutting machines and welding automation for steel structures, including beam welding lines and box-column welding lines, in standard and customised versions. [1]
Does Jinfeng's standards work certify its machines?
Jinfeng helped draft GB/T 46074-2025, a safety standard for thermal cutting machines. For any cutting machine or welding line you order, ask for the certificates of that model. [2]
Can I add up cutting and welding speeds to estimate output?
Only inside a defined workflow that counts transfers and acceptance. Compare finished assemblies per period instead of separate rated speeds.
What should I prepare before buying a line?
A part-family drawing pack, the process sequence, the equipment boundary, a plant layout and a factory and on-site acceptance plan, all next to the commercial quote.
