Dongho Plastic Welding Automation

Dongho, in Yuyao, builds standard and custom plastic joining machines for automotive parts: ultrasonic welders, heat staking, hot-plate and vibration friction equipment, plus the fixtures that hold the parts. Send the part drawings, polymer grades and acceptance tests first, and let the process choice follow from them.

What Dongho builds

Dongho describes itself as a developer and producer of standard and customized automated welding equipment for plastic assemblies. Its introduction names ultrasonic and heat-staking systems for car door interiors, pneumatic and servo hot-plate machines, bumper punching-and-welding equipment and vibration-friction systems. Alongside the machines it makes ultrasonic tooling, welding fixtures, inspection fixtures and jigs for assembly or cutting.

The application list covers interior panels, lamps, reservoirs, filters, ducts and other automotive components. Each of these brings its own material pair, access limits and test. Much of the range is built per project, so ask Dongho whether your machine would be a standard model or a custom build. Tie every proposal to your part drawing and joining task. The introduction also names automotive customer brands. If those matter to your decision, ask Dongho for references on programs similar to yours.

Listed as a Zhejiang technology-based SME

The 2024 Zhejiang technology-based SME filing list, published by the provincial government, names Ningbo Dongho Ultrasonic Technology Co., Ltd. in its Ningbo section at entry 9311. That Chinese name matches the one on Dongho's own company page, which helps you match the legal entity on a technical offer and an invoice.

The listing concerns the company. Machine documents, cycle times, customer programs and capacity are separate topics for your enquiry. Ask Dongho to quote under its legal name and to give the model or custom-project number, the nameplate data and the certificate set for the machine you will receive. Results on your own part come from the trial you agree with them.

Let the part choose the joining process

Give Dongho the polymer designation and grade, any fillers, inserts or coatings, and both mating-part drawings. Mark the seam or the staking points. Say what the joint has to do: seal, hold an insert, carry a load or look clean on a visible face. Because Dongho offers several process families, it can propose more than one route. Ask each proposal to spell out the joint design and material conditions it depends on.

Ultrasonic joining, hot-plate welding, heat staking and vibration joining work in different ways. Ask how the part is supported and where the energy goes into it. In a mixed-material assembly, forming a plastic stake around a metal or other component is a different task from welding two compatible polymer faces together. A resin name alone gives too little to pick a process. For a new material pair, plan a weld test on real parts before you commit.

Specify the tooling with the machine

Fixtures and ultrasonic tools are part of Dongho's business, so put them in the same enquiry as the machine. Send the locating datums, tolerances and the areas tooling may touch with the drawing. Show which faces must stay free of marks and which zones must not deform. Ask who designs, builds and approves the nests and process tools, and how adjustments are recorded.

For a door panel with many joining points, list every weld or stake position and each part variant. Ask whether positions fire together or one after another, how tools are changed and what needs recalibrating after a change. A power or actuator rating tells you little until you see the tooling layout. Request part numbers for spare tools and agreed limits for wear, maintenance and revisions, so a replacement can be ordered by number years later.

05

Write the acceptance plan before the demo

Decide on the tests before Dongho shows you a machine. A sealed reservoir, a visible interior panel and a loaded bracket each need different checks. State the inspection method, how samples are picked, the dimensional checks and which cosmetic marks you will accept on the real part. If you need traceability, say what the machine must record, how it handles a rejected part and how process settings are locked.

Run the trial on production-representative parts as well as any display sample. Record the tooling revision, settings, loading method and inspection results for each run. Strength, leak tightness and scrap rate are proven on your parts in that trial. When Dongho quotes a cycle time, ask whether it covers loading, joining, cooling, unloading and inspection, and how many parts each cycle produces.

Fit the station into your line

Tell Dongho whether loading will be manual, semi-automatic or fully automated, how much floor space you have and what the station connects to. Give the utilities available, how parts arrive from upstream and how they leave downstream. Ask for the guarding, interlocks, changeover access and operating instructions to be part of the project offer, designed for your application.

In an existing plant, set out maintenance access, operator reach and how a failed part comes out of the machine without losing its identity. Agree training, spare-tool supply and who services what.

07

What to pin down before you sign

Ask Dongho for a dated quotation that prices the machine, tooling, integration, commissioning and acceptance work as separate items. The same document should carry the production rate, price and delivery date it commits to, and the legal entity that signs the contract.

Agree in writing which trial results count as acceptance and who signs the trial report. Settle how tooling revisions are approved after delivery, what spare tools ship with the machine, and the machine documents and certificates you need for your market. Keep the trial record with the order so later disputes refer to the same parts and settings.

Buyer questions

What does the Zhejiang SME listing tell me?

It names Ningbo Dongho Ultrasonic Technology in a dated 2024 provincial list. Use it to match the company name. Ask for machine documents and agree part acceptance in your own order. [2]

Can Dongho pick a process from a photo of my part?

A photo starts the conversation. For a proposal you can use, send the polymer grades, mating drawings, joint access and the tests the part must pass. [1]

Which automotive customers does Dongho serve?

Dongho's introduction mentions customer brands. Ask for references from programs close to your part and check them directly before relying on them. [1]

Should tooling be part of my enquiry?

Yes. Ask for the nests, process tools, datums, changeover method, spare part numbers and who approves the tool design, all quoted with the machine. [1]

Does Dongho build custom machines?

Yes. Its introduction covers both standard and customized automated joining equipment, so describe your part and line and ask which applies. [1]
