Dabu MMA-140 Single-Phase 230 V Portable Stick Welder
The Dabu MMA-140 is a 5.7 kg single-phase stick welder for 230 V supplies, giving 10–140 A with 1.6–4.0 mm electrodes. The web address of its page carries an MMA160 fragment, so match the rating plate to MMA-140 first. Then ask what current sits behind the listed 60% duty cycle.

A compact stick set for 230 V shops
Dabu's MMA-140 is a compact stick welder for single-phase AC 230 V, with a ±15% supply tolerance and a rated input capacity of 5.0 kVA. Dabu quotes 85% efficiency and a 0.93 power factor. Output runs 10–140 A at a no-load voltage of 60 V, and the holder takes 1.6–4.0 mm electrodes. Hot start and anti-stick are listed among its features.
The box measures 375 × 175 × 260 mm and weighs 5.7 kg net, 7.1 kg packed. Insulation is class F and the enclosure is IP21S. Dabu also offers customer branding, custom manuals and packaging options, along with sample and bulk-order lead times. The duty cycle row reads only 60. For heavier jobs on three-phase power, Dabu sells the MMA-400.
[1]Match the rating plate to MMA-140
Buying guidance
The heading and the parameter table both say MMA-140. The page address, however, contains an MMA160 fragment, possibly carried over from an older listing. Treat the table as the model you are pricing, and ask Dabu for the rating plate photo, the revision number and the manual that belong to it. Every later document, from the invoice to the packing slip, should carry the same name.
This matters most when a reseller or an export agent offers the machine under its own label. Keep a photo of the identification plate with your enquiry, so any reply can be traced to the right unit. If anything about the rating looks different from the table, ask for a dated model sheet. The Dabu maker page explains which of the two Ningbo companies to name as seller.
[1]Find out what the 60% stands for
Buying guidance
The duty-cycle row holds the number 60 and nothing else. No welding current, ambient temperature or cycle length accompanies it. Reading it as 140 A at 60% just because the range tops out at 140 A would be a guess. Ask Dabu for the full duty chart at the current you plan to use, with the test conditions printed beside each point.
For repair work, tell Dabu which electrode you burn and how your welds, repositioning and slag cleaning alternate. For batch work, give the sustained current and how long each run lasts. Set this machine against a rival with a fully stated rating only once Dabu fills in the gaps. The holder, the lead and the return clamp each carry their own limit, so check them against the same load.
[1]Name the rod, then test the start
Buying guidance
With 1.6–4.0 mm electrodes and a 10–140 A range, the MMA-140 covers the common small rods. Diameter alone leaves out a lot. Send Dabu the electrode designation and brand, the base material, the joint preparation and the welding position, and ask for a trial with that consumable.
Dabu lists hot start and anti-stick, and both show up within a few minutes of welding. If thin rods at low current or awkward restarts matter to you, ask for a demonstration of exactly that, with short runs and restarts. Write down the settings and how the arc behaves on each restart. A long flat bead on clean plate tells you less than a vertical tack on your own part.
[1]Plan the socket and the carry separately
Buying guidance
On paper the MMA-140 draws 5.0 kVA from a 230 V single-phase supply that may vary by ±15%. Hand those numbers and the quoted manual to the person who installs or approves your circuit, and ask Dabu for the protection, earthing and cable details. Generators and long extension leads deserve their own written answer, since the supply tolerance covers neither.
At 5.7 kg net in a 375 × 175 × 260 mm case, one person can carry the welder around a site. Plan how it travels with leads and rods, and how it is stored. The IP21S rating and class F insulation describe the enclosure. For outdoor jobs in rain or dust, ask Dabu for its operating limits and follow them.
[1]Ordering custom-branded units
Buying guidance
Dabu offers customer branding, custom manuals and packaging. If you take that route, keep the electrical model and revision printed in the agreed specification. Ask whether your changes stay cosmetic or touch the hardware, the rating, the nameplate or the compliance papers. Two units in the same case colour can still differ inside.
Request a packing list that names the holder, return lead, connectors and any consumables, along with part numbers for spares and the source of service documents. Ask for certification that covers this model and your market. The sample and bulk lead times on the catalogue page are a guide. Your offer should state its own delivery date, validity period and the accepted model details.
[1]Get these answers on paper
Buying guidance
Before a deposit leaves your account, Dabu should have sent in writing the rating plate and revision for MMA-140, the duty chart with current, ambient and time basis, and the supply limits for generators or extension leads. Add the full contents of the carton, any branding changes and who supplies spare parts. Compare offers line by line once every supplier answers the same points.

Buyer questions
Is this the MMA-140 or the MMA160?
The heading and table say MMA-140, while the page address carries an MMA160 fragment. Ask Dabu for the rating plate photo and current model sheet for the unit you are buying. [1]
Does the 60% duty cycle apply at 140 A?
Dabu prints 60% with no current beside it. Ask for the complete duty chart at your working current, with ambient temperature and cycle length. [1]
Will any 4 mm rod run well on it?
The holder takes 1.6–4.0 mm electrodes. How a given rod behaves depends on its classification, your position and the current and duty you need, so ask for a sample weld with your own consumable. [1]
How heavy is the Dabu MMA-140?
Dabu lists 5.7 kg net and 7.1 kg gross, in a case of 375 × 175 × 260 mm. [1]
